FOKUS HbbTV & OIPF Test Suite – Test Suite for CE-HTML, HbbTV and hybrid TV devices
Internet-enabled TV sets and set-top-boxes take the CE market by assault. Today almost any device is shipped with internet capabilities. Simultaneously, the number of devices and different versions of hard- and software is growing rapidly.
The EU project GUIDE develops technologies which allow easier handling of modern high-tech equipment. These technologies have the potential to become the main media terminals in the users’ homes, due to their convenience and wide acceptance.
HbbTV Car Configurator – Hybrid TV enables new interactive content and advertisement formats
Be able to configure the own dream car in parallel to the running advertisement spot is not a vision of the future any more – even direct via remote control on TV. Together with leading partners of the German automotive and broadcasting industry, Fraunhofer FOKUS presents an interactive car configurator for Smart TVs.
The Interactive Shop Window enables passers-by to operate a display installed behind the window pane via simple gestures. Four small cameras attached to the window constantly monitor the user’s hand movements, facial expressions and eye movements.
An App for all devices – only a myth? Media Web Runtime 2012 closes gaps in the development chain, caused by the large number of competing operating systems and the heterogeneity of smartphones and CE devices, which makes the creation of apps complex and cost-intensive.
Non-linear video – New interactive dimension in moving pictures
Non-linear video is a technology developed by the Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS which makes video content an interactive experience. Non-linear video gives the viewer the opportunity to interact with objects that are part of the video and access supplemental information.
Reha@home – An interactive system for the telemedically assisted rehabilitation at home
Rehabilitation programs are time-consuming. Initial therapeutic measures at the hospital need to be continued at home to guarantee a sustained effect. In the Reha@home project, Fraunhofer FIRST is developing a telemedically assisted training and therapy environment for prevention and rehabilitation.
Online music distribution is constantly growing. As an industry first, the Pro-Codec plug-in enables mix and mastering engineers to audition up to five codecs in real time within a DAW environment, produce an optimized mix and batch encode to multiple formats simultaneously.
Surround Audio for Digital Broadcast and IP Delivery
At IFA 2011, Fraunhofer will present Internet radio in high quality 5.1 surround sound at a bit-rate of 64 kbit/s. A popular choice for radio broadcasting, the ISO standard MPEG Surround technology enables multi-channel sound to be broadcast at stereo bit-rates over existing and future distribution channels.
Web App-DRM – Digital Rights Management for Web-Apps
Web-Apps are the future. Running in browsers on all end devices, they reduce the development effort and save costs. In contrast to established App Stores, current technical conditions are lacking ways to ensure conditional access.
