In addition to its locations in Europe, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is engaged in a number of international activities in the USA, in Asia and in the Middle East. The Brussels office serves as a platform for dialog with European policy makers, with the additional functions of issuing public/official statements and providing information services.

Fraunhofer USA, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary with its Headquarters in Plymouth, Michigian, currently operates from six locations in the East and one on the West coast.

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft oversees Representative Offices and Senior Advisors in Asia and Representative Offices in the Middle East. The Representative Offices form a bridge between the local Asian markets and the Fraunhofer Institutes. Their activities are focused on marketing and business expansion.

Fraunhofer is participating in international networks and organizations like ERCIM, EARTO, GRA and WAITRO.
