In future, you'll be able to deal with local authorities conveniently from home – collecting a number and standing in line will become a thing of the past. The new personal ID card is a step in this direction. Secure electronic identity and signature functions are the prerequisite in this respect. Fraunhofer researchers are working on making eGovernment secure and reliable.

They can be used, for example, to send messages to local authorities. Fraunhofer research scientists have developed individual solutions to facilitate rapid contact with government institutions.

Fraunhofer experts demonstrate the future of electronic and secure ID verification, including its application for online shopping and the telephone.

    The Fraunhofer eGovernment Center combines the expertise of various Fraunhofer institutes in a Germany-wide network. The Fraunhofer eGovernment Center advises government, government agencies and business on the conception and development of integrated, forward-looking and secure eGovernment solutions and on the realization of service-oriented architectures and standards. The aim of the Fraunhofer initiatives in the area of eGovernment is to integrate the extensive expertise of the largest European research institutions into the demanding change processes within the public sector.
