In the Fraunhofer flagship project "Criticality of rare earths" eight Fraunhofer Institutes showed that the demand for rare earths can be reduced to up to one fifth of today's value in benchmark electric motors.

Real-time layer thickness measurement with terahertz

The Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI has successfully developed a cost-efficient and compact measurement system that conducts real-time measurements of the thickness of multi-layer systems for the first time, an essential technology e.g. for lacquering lines.

Additive Manufacturing and Laser Welding Solutions

The Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology IWS Dresden will present solutions for Additive Manufacturing and laser welding. The German engineers will show a rocket engine with aerospike nozzle for space travel, the "smart head" COAXwire 4.0 for laser build-up welding and the modular laser welding optics concept remoweld®FLEX together with Arnold Ravensburg.
