The performance center "ICNAP - International Center for Networked, Adaptive Production" pursues the goal of making value chains for the manufacture of technical and biological products significantly more flexible and efficient by networking and digitizing all the hardware and software systems involved as well as the product itself. The vision of a self-optimizing and adaptable production is researched across disciplines, demonstrated by means of selected projects and transferred to industry. Seven topics are addressed: sensor systems & data acquisition, interfaces & connectivity, data synchronization & middleware, data modeling & data analytics, digital twin in the product life cycle, cloud systems & IT architecture, data-based business models.
In order to achieve the addressed goals, a cross-industry community was established in Aachen, in which players from science and manufacturing industry as well as enablers of digitization and Industry 4.0 develop, evaluate and implement appropriate solutions.
