Cognitive systems, artificial intelligence and data sovereignty

More and more institutes at Fraunhofer are dealing with artificial intelligence and learning machines. They use these technologies in a wide variety of applications – from underwater robots to the analysis of medical image data. The existing competencies are to be bundled and further developed in the Key Strategic Initiative.

Cognitive machines

Machines are conquering more and more areas of application and helping people to make better decisions. The International Data Corporation (IDC) expects global spending on cognitive solutions to exceed $40 billion by 2020.

From data processor to mastermind

Artificial intelligence systems will increasingly relieve us of tasks in factories, offices and everyday life: They trade stocks for us, operate autonomous cars, make medical diagnoses and answer our questions in the call center.

Data – Raw material for smart innovation

With the digitization, the need of the economy for data protection, secure data exchange and the sovereignty over the own data as an economic good increases.
