Fraunhofer Bessel Research Award

The Fraunhofer Bessel Research Award, presented by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in cooperation with the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), honors outstanding international researchers from all fields of applied research for their scientific achievements. Award winners are invited to conduct research in Germany. The program’s main objective is to attract leading figures in their field to conduct temporary research at a Fraunhofer institute. The prize is endowed with 45 000 euros. Fraunhofer institute directors or senior researchers with the approval of the institute director can submit nominations to the Humboldt Foundation. Humboldt Foundation award winners working abroad may initiate a nomination but must submit it with researchers from Fraunhofer institutes in Germany. Nominees must have completed their doctorate no more than 18 years ago.
