The Executive Board of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft

The executive board is responsible for managing the business activities of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and represents the organization both internally and externally. It elaborates the basic premises of the organization’s science and research policy and draws up business-development and financial plans. The executive board also negotiates to obtain institutional funding for the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and defines how it is to be distributed among the institutes. A further duty of the executive board is to appoint the directors of the institutes.

The presidential council participates in executive board decision-making processes on questions relating to the organization’s business strategy, and assists with the implementation of executive board resolutions. The presidential council consists of the members of the executive board and the chairs of the Fraunhofer groups:
