At the end of July, the Senate of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft re-elected Prof. Reimund Neugebauer as President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft for a further two years, until 2024.
The Senate has thus followed the proposal of its election committee, so that Prof. Neugebauer will lead the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft until September 30, 2024.
“The COVID-19 pandemic as well as increased demands regarding the support of the German and European economy in global competition present science and research – including the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft – with diverse and ongoing challenges,“ explains Prof. Heinz Jörg Fuhrmann, Chairman of the Senate of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. “The extension of Prof. Neugebauer's presidential mandate in these turbulent times is the right signal in view of the stability currently demonstrated by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft as well as its future tasks as Europe's leading organization for applied research.”
