Fraunhofer Technology Experience

What is the Fraunhofer Technology Experience about?

This series of interactive events in our Fraunhofer EU Office in Brussels not only showcases cutting-edge technology for the benefit of European citizens but also gives you the opportunity to test it yourself. Experience today the solutions of tomorrow!

Since September 2015, the Fraunhofer EU Office has organized these events together with Fraunhofer Institutes to present Fraunhofer’s wide variety of skills, technologies and solutions. First under the name Innovation Experience and then as Technology Experience.

After a two year break due to COVID-19, the in person event series is back on. Take a look at our upcoming and past events and stay tuned for what's to come.

CLEANTAN® leather tanning technology without waste water

Leather is a high performance, high quality and natural material. It has unique properties, from high resilience, protection against water, the capacity to hold liquid from the inside and a high customer acceptance. However, its production is anything but efficient in terms of chemical usage. Up to 40 percent of the chrome salts used for leather tanning worldwide find their way into the wastewater, and recycling is technically complex and cost-intensive. With its CLEANTAN® process, Fraunhofer UMSICHT almost completely reduces chromium-polluted wastewater.
