The Bavarian Chip-Design-Center strengthens chip design capabilities in Bavaria and makes it easier for companies to access chip design and supply chains. Neuromorphic Computing for Edge AI

Current neural network architectures require high computing power and a lot of energy. Neuromorphic hardware uses massive parallel processing to perform machine learning faster and more energy-efficiently, among other things. Efficient architectures that optimize computing power, energy consumption and chip area are crucial for the use of neural networks in embedded devices.

Agentic Neural Architecture Search for the Edge

The data produced at the edge brings many opportunities for novel AI applications. But implementing AI on the edge is challenging, since computational resources are limited. The AI agent NASE/HiL finds and optimizes AI models for the edge automatically. It uses genetic evolutionary algorithms together with hardware awareness to optimize AI for most hardware platforms.

Energy-autonomous IoT sensors

Sensors powered by energy harvested from the environment are maintenance-free and independent of the power grid. They are easy to install and can be retrofitted quickly and cost-effectively. Energy harvesting allows vibrations in devices, machines, and structures, or temperature differences in pipes, lines, and devices to be used to generate electrical energy for self-sufficient power supply.
