Press releases

Experience the Industrial Metaverse and AI Avatars Live

What does the future of industrial collaboration look like — and what role will the metaverse play? Fraunhofer experts invite you to an immersive experience in new forms of engineering, service development and human-machine interaction.

Battery recycling

Lithium, cobalt and nickel are in high demand – and they are hard to obtain. Researchers are developing an electrochemical process to recover scarce raw materials in battery recycling. This new technology could also enable the extraction of rare earth elements from electronic waste in the future.

Removing Corporate Data from AI Models

The development of AI models in joint projects yields improved results because multiple companies contribute their data. The situation becomes critical, however, if a partner withdraws and requests the return of its data. With federated unlearning, Fraunhofer researchers have developed a method for precisely removing data from decentralized AI models.

Customized Fertilization

Overfertilization in agriculture weakens crops, endangers drinking water quality and harms the soil. Researchers are now developing an alternative fertilizer that is fully biodegradable and only supplies plants with the nutrients they actually need, thus preventing overfertilization.

Smart labels ensure counterfeit-proof clothing

Fraunhofer SIT Develops Care Label Printer with Smart ID Technology: Researchers have developed a printer that creates counterfeit-proof care labels for textiles. In addition to the usual washing instructions, these labels provide further information on the digital product passport and verify the authenticity of the garment.

AI success starts with data

At the Fraunhofer booth, Fraunhofer FIT will demonstrate how industrial data can be transformed into real capacity for action. The focus is on end-to-end data pipelines – from data acquisition and processing through to analysis with AI. Live demonstrators will illustrate how data quality determines the performance of AI systems and how assistance systems based on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) make complex data sets accessible in natural language.

Industry in the data space

How can companies securely exchange data, integrate existing IT systems, and at the same time unlock new digital business models? The Fraunhofer IESE will provide answers to these questions: The institute will demonstrate concrete applications showing how digital data spaces can make industrial processes more efficient and enable new forms of collaboration along the value chain

Electromobility through interoperable and secure architectures

The aim of the ELISA research project is to develop a secure functional architecture that is integrated into various IT backends for the secure use of backend services. This functional architecture is to be developed on the basis of a trustworthy vehicle network using a zero-trust approach. (Hall 11, Booth D48)

Using material knowledge digitally and across company boundaries

Fraunhofer IESE and Fraunhofer IWM are working with companies to create a digital material data space

Industry in the data space

How can companies securely exchange data, integrate existing IT systems, and at the same time unlock new digital business models? At three exhibition booths, Fraunhofer IESE will demonstrate concrete applications showing how digital data spaces can make industrial processes more efficient and enable new forms of collaboration along the value chain.

Researchers from the Fraunhofer WKI demonstrate wood foam in use

At Hannover Messe 2026, the layer structure of a door can be seen, in which wood foam has been utilized as a structural element. The partners are thereby demonstrating an application possibility for wood foam in combination with classic wood-based materials.
