Technologies for the future of aerospace

How can the aerospace industry become more climate-friendly, safer, and economically competitive at the same time? The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft will provide answers to these questions at ILA Berlin 2026. From June 10 to 14, experts led by the Fraunhofer Aviation & Space Alliance will present groundbreaking technologies for aviation and space at two exhibition booths.

Space: From Space for Earth

At the Space booth (Hall B, Booth 240), the focus is on space-based solutions that create tangible benefits for the climate, environment, safety, and society; these include sensor and communication technologies, precise Earth observation systems, and materials and systems for extreme operating conditions.

Learn how satellites communicate, how greenhouse gases are measured globally, and how high-resolution data from space supports more sustainable agriculture. The booth also addresses the industrialization of space travel and the resulting transition from individual developments to reproducible, cost-effective systems.

Aviation: On the Path to Climate-Friendly Flying

At the Aviation booth (Hall C, Booth 280), everything revolves around the aviation of tomorrow. Key topics include electric and hybrid propulsion systems, hydrogen technologies, lightweight construction, and digitally supported and automated production processes.

Fraunhofer experts will showcase high-performance components for electrified aircraft, fuel cell demonstrators, and solutions for the safe storage and industrial manufacturing of hydrogen tanks. In addition, there will be exhibits on recyclable materials, thermoplastic composite structures, and highly automated assembly processes that enable the transition from small-scale production to mass production.

Exchange, Context, and Perspectives

Alongside the exhibits, Fraunhofer offers a diverse range of dialogue opportunities. In the Speakers Corner at the Space booth, as well as in other specialized formats at the trade show, researchers will discuss current technologies, trends, and application prospects with industry experts, industry representatives, and policymakers.
