Forming the core focus of our research portfolio, the seven Fraunhofer Strategic Research Fields aim to address needs and markets that will shape our future. This includes cutting-edge ideas for upcoming future trends like trustworthy AI, smart factory, quantum computing, additive manufacturing, hybrid lightweight construction, hydrogen technologies, digital ecosystems, biological transformation and the circular economy.     Numerous Fraunhofer institutes research and develop in the field of image processing and optical or acoustic testing for quality assurance. At the Control 2024 stand, which is coordinated by the Fraunhofer Vision Business Unit, current new developments from various fields will again be on display. This year, we will present exhibits from the fields from the fields of surface inspection, optical 3D metrology, inline measuring and testing, component identification and augmented reality. New developments in the field of non-destructive testing with technologies such as X-ray computed tomography, terahertz and ultrasound will also be on display. Other topics are acoustic monitoring of production and laser acoustics. Numerous exhibits work with artificial intelligence or machine learning methods, so that the visitors will be able to get an overview of respective trends.

  • Quantum computers may break established cryptographic procedures and protocols in the near future. This poses a major challenge to our competitiveness and technological sovereignty. In order to be prepared for this, the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied and Integrated Security AISEC runs the Competence Center for Post-Quantum Cryptography. The aim is to implement post-quantum cryptographic solutions as quickly as possible. With the annual network event "PQC Update", Fraunhofer AISEC brings together researchers, users, providers and regulators on the topic of post-quantum cryptography.
