Gesunde Ozeane und Küstengebiete sind lebenswichtig für unsere Gesellschaften und die Zukunft des Planeten. Sie sichern die zukünftige Versorgung mit Ressourcen und bergen ein enormes Potenzial für Wirtschaftswachstum und Innovation. Die zunehmende Verschmutzung und Überfischung aber auch erhebliche Chancen für die maritime Wirtschaft in Deutschland und Europa machen Forschung und Innovation für eine nachhaltige Nutzung des Lebensraums Ozean zu einem wichtigen Anliegen.

 

Momentum für Veränderungen der maritimen Wirtschaft

Die Innovationsplattform »Sustainable Sea and Ocean Solutions ISSS« ist eine Initiative der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in Kooperation mit den europäischen Forschungseinrichtungen RISE, VTT, +Atlantic CoLAB, AZTI, Tecnalia, SINTEF, TNO, ENEA und IFREMER. Gemeinsam haben sie sich zum Ziel gesetzt, vernetzte maritime Forschung für Innovation zur nachhaltigen und digitalen Transformation der europäischen Wirtschaft voranzutreiben. Die Plattform soll auf europäischer und nationaler Ebene blaues Wachstum in den etablierten sowie wachsenden Märkten der maritimen Wirtschaft im Einklang mit dem Green Deal fördern.  

In Deutschland werden Forschungs-Hubs für die Nord- und Ostsee als elementare Bestandteile der Innovationsplattform »Sustainable Sea and Ocean Solutions« etabliert, an denen Technologien für die drei Anwendungsbereiche Aquakultur, Säuberung der Meere und Küsten, Energie- und Ressourcengewinnung erforscht werden. Auf nationaler und europäischer Ebene knüpft die Innovationsplattform an politische Programme an und fördert die Vernetzung sämtlicher Stakeholder aus Wissenschaft, Industrie, Politik und Gesellschaft.

We, Fraunhofer, and our partners +ATLANTIC CoLAB, AZTI, ENEA, Ifremer, RISE, SINTEF, TECNALIA, TNO and VTT launched the Innovation Platform ISSS during a #EMDInMyCountry and UN Ocean Decade Activity Event: »A boost for sustainable sea and ocean solutions. Intelligent technologies for the Blue Economy - ISSS platform«.

    Listen to the insightful key note by Nina Jensen (CEO, REV Ocean), on the importance of our oceans and the empowering role of ocean science for the future we want. Dive into a panel discussion with Anssi Mikola (Founder, RiverRecycle), Szilvia Nemeth (Deputy Head of Unit, Healthy Ocean and Seas, DG Research & Innovation, EU-Commission), Alexandra Neyts (Senior Advisor, European Aquaculture Technology & Innovation Platform EATIP), António Sarmento (President, WavEC Offshore Renewables) and Bård Wathne Tveiten (Vice President EU Research and Innovation, Sintef Ocean) on the questions of why improved collection, management and use of ocean data is important and how collaboration on ocean data and knowledge management between industry, research, policy and citizens can be enhanced.

In three expert sessions, our scientists will pitch their research results, which we can use to tackle the ocean challenges.
